Websites To Bookmark

These are websites you may want to bookmark, as I think you and your kiddo will visit often throughout the year.

RAZ Kids Reading

This links to the online reading books.  This is very helpful with early readers as it is hard to find texts that are truly appropriate for their reading practice.  I hope your emerging reader visits this site 3-4 times per week.  Short 5-10 minutes segments are good until they build up their reading stamina.

IXL Math

This links you to online math practice.  Your child can jump around to different areas.  Do not correct your child's mistakes.  You can sit with them and help them figure out what is being asked, but do not do it for them.  IXL operates best and gives meaningful data when I can see what your child has mastered and what areas are still tricky for them.  Try to get on here 3 times per week.  Once the iPads are set up, the kids will be doing IXL as part of the math rotation most days.

Tumblebooks (online stories that read to your child)

The login is atwood and the password is books.  This site has lots of high quality literature that reads aloud to your child.  Be sure to sit and listen with them so you can talk about the story afterwards.  This helps with comprehension. . .another important part of what we are working on in kindergarten.
